JOHN FURRER, farmer; P. 0. Manito; was born June 9, 1838, on a farm in Germany, where he remained until 14 years old, when he came with bis parents to Illinois, and settled in Mason Co., and has been here ever since. He first engaged in farming for Mr. Akers, near Topeka ; after hard working three years, for $10 a month, he worked for himself, on what is the Kidman farm, for three years. In 1864, he was married to Lidda Slngley, of Pennsylvania; after marriage they settled on Mr. Starrett's farm, and remained two years, after which he moved to Mr. Schrink's farm, and has been there ever since, a period of twelve years. They have four children:  Sarah, William, Lindy and Melia, deceased. They are members of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Furrer takes quite an interest in educating his children, furnishing them excellent literature.
